Framed VS Integrated IDX
Typical IDX Integration: Framed Integration
Typically, the way this listing data was integrated to an agent’s website was through a process called ‘Framing’. Through framing, the IDX data appears to be on the website you are looking at, when in reality it’s residing on the IDX providers website. To the viewer of the website, this can be imperceptible. However to search engines, this data is almost entirely invisible. (Search engines made a determination that any content that is framed in should only be credited to the website it resides on originally, not any subsequent sites that it’s displayed through).
Indexable IDX Integration
However, as technology has moved on, we have been able to display this information in more sophisticated ways. In so doing, the listing information that resides in the IDX data, can now be integrated into the website itself, and therefore credited to the website.

Your Website
Ideally all of the content within your website should be credited to your website by search engines.

Framed IDX
However, IDX content that is framed using an iframe is essentially invisible to a search engine.

Indexable IDX
With indexable IDX, the listing detail information resides on your website enabling search engines to view it, and give credit to your site’s SEO.
From the perspective of a search engine, there is no better food than detailed real estate information. Active listings via IDX are about the best source for their insatiable information appetite.
