The days when a real estate agent simply having a website was good enough have passed. Since then everything has changed, customer web sophistication has changed, customer expectations have changed, real estate has changed, online competitiveness has changed. The question is have you changed?
Here at limeyboy, we have a somewhat blinkered view, with regard to whether real estate agent’s web sophistication has changed, because the ones that call us need some help! The ones that don’t need help, don’t seem to call?
Why Have A Real Estate Website At All?
The whole point to having a real estate website is find people who don’t know you. You can grow your business, only if you find new customers, the ones you know, you already know, its the new ones where the growth potential is.
Therefore, at the top of every agent’s new website hit list has to be that your site shows up at search engines for a set of specific things.
Real Estate Website Design: Showing Up In Search
If we accept that the whole point of building new website is to find people who you don’t know, then pretty soon we have to figure out how to get in from them. It is amazing to us, that for many real estate agents, most don’t consider the importance of showing up in search at all, and if they do, they don’t feel it’s at all realistic to even try!
Our feeling is, showing up at search engines is the whole point!
Real Estate Web Design: Showing Up For what?
Here’s where we have to be realistic, showing up for USA Real Estate Agent, New Jersey Homes For Sale, though noble goals, are probably too broad to see much success in the foreseeable future. More on figuring out your niche market here.
Recent Example
We recently upgraded the website of one our customers who had been with us for over 5 years. Since the initial build of the website a great deal has changed in real estate web design technology.

Even though the website was still performing well on the first page of google, and still reliably generating leads, it was time for a make over.
